FACT: Not every child loves to pretend they’re happy in a sun dress when there is NO sun and TONS of gusty, cold wind…annnnd there’s a really annoying photographer who is trying way too hard to make you smile (I get it, Jasmine, my four year old self wouldn’t like me either). Welcome to San Francisco and welcome to the Valdivia family photo shoot…here goes nothin’!
Michelle and I had been in the planning process for quite some time before we found an open date than worked for both parties. What we were not fortunate enough to plan for was the weather (despite my ‘sun dance’ moves that look a lot like Elaine’s from Seinfeld…I was that desperate). Let’s face it, Valdivia’s, it was kind of miserable, huh? What DID help was that the Valdivia’s look as elegant as the pseudo-family inserts that you find behind store-bought frames…except they’re real and every bit as natural as our forest setting. While the weather was non-cooperative, we did, in fact, manage to pull some genuine smiles from Jasmine, and those smiles (finally) turned into actual happy moments (commence actual cheering). My personal favorite move was when Jasmine would refuse to smile when mom or dad would ask her to, but then she’d look over at me with this, “Okay, I’ll smile for you, but just for a second, and you’re not going to make a big deal out of it” look. Boom.
Thank you, Valdivia’s, for making an ugly weather day appear beautiful…I couldn’t have done it without you guys.
